In the 4th and final day of the League of Caribbean Nations of the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), at the stadium Sylvio Cator jam-packed, the Grenadiers came after the Cuban selection the "Leones del Caribe" (the lions of the Caribbean) at the end of a breathless match... Remember that as well as Haiti 9 points plus 16 (St-Marteen [13-0], St. Lucia [2-1], Nicaragua [2-0]) the Cuban selection 9 points, plus 14 remained on three victories (Turks and Caicos [11-0], Grenada : [2-0] and Dominican Republic: [ 1-0]) in as many games played in the league of nations of Concacaf 2020.

In the first half the Grenadiers were aggressive in front of an acquired support crowd controlling the game during the first quarter of an hour, but failed to find a flaw in the strong defense of the Lions. It will be necessary to wait for a superb action of Duckens Nazon (#9) at the 27', foiling all the Cuban defense, to open the score in favor of Haiti [1-0], ending the invincibility of the Cuban goalkeeper who remained in 6 games without conceding a single goal.

Back from the locker room, the Caribbean Lions put pressure on our Grenadiers to put them on the defensive, a paid strategy, which allowed striker Luis Paradela (#23) on a shot badly repulsed by Johnny Placid of find the equalizer [1-1].

Following this equalizer, the Grenadiers are off again on the offensive, but Kevin Lafrance and Jonel Désiré have demonstrated a disconcerting inefficiency by missing several opportunities to give the advantage to Haiti...

Finally it will be necessary to wait for Duc Nazon who face alone the Cuban defense, taking speed superbly served Kevin Lafrance (#13) at the end of the second period 89' which scored the goal of the victory for the Grenadiers [2-1] which allowed the Grenadiers to validate their ticket for league A by winning one of the 6 places and finishing first in their group (19 goals against 18 for Canada).

Note that during this match, the Grenadiers attacked more on long balls, rather than on very constructed actions, while on their side the Lions of the Caribbean were operating in cons, often putting in danger the Haitian defense.

Next appointment for the Gold Cup (June 15 to July 7, 2019)

Caribbean countries qualified for the 2019 Gold Cup :

Haiti, Martinique, Curacao, Bermuda, Cuba, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago. The other 8 countries are: Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, United States, Canada, El Salvador and Nicaragua.

The draw will take place on April 10 in Los Angeles.
